Good day people. How are you doing?
I had an interesting conversation with a young man
yesterday that I believe is worth sharing. I advised him to buy protective
clothing because his job leaves him exposed to the weather. He told me he
couldn't afford to buy the clothing because of family commitments.
My response to him is the real gist of this post. I told
him that if he fell sick as a result of not getting that protective clothing
and using it, he would be unable to work and the family commitments would not
be met.
A good number of men are prone to this error. It is great
to provide for your family. However, your family needs you alive. I'm not
encouraging laziness (please find something productive to do and stop being a
burden to everyone) or selfishness. If you are selfish, you need a change of
heart.
Most often than not, a workaholic is working so hard to
maintain the lifestyle of one or more individual with an entitlement mentality.
It's okay to help people now and then but it is NEVER okay to become an ATM for
another human being. That is not God's design. One of my pastors set me
straight when I started out on the path of becoming an ATM to other church
members.
A good number of men are tending other people's gardens.
Some are slaving away because Madam's needs are insatiable. Madam, if you need
to buy every Aso-Ebi and jewelry in town, GET A JOB please. Marriage is not a
license to suck another person dry...
I have a lot more to say but my people say that you don't
say all to a responsible person; you should leave some things unsaid so that
he/she can think over it and arrive at reasonable conclusions themselves.
Enjoy your day.
